The Norwegian “jakt” of 1889, among the world’s oldest wooden vessels, is still sailing. After a long period as a sailing- and motorfreighter she was lovingly rebuilt by Hans van de Vooren. Under the name "Anna Kristina" she has sailed the seas for many years, from Spitsbergen in the north to Tasmania in the south.
Her history is the history of the norwegian jakt`s and ketches, who sailed along the coast with fish and goods. Some of them even went overseas with dried, salted fish for the markets in Portugal, Spain, Brazil. The norwegian Jakt`s combined strength with beauty. Build for sailing in the stormy winter of the North Atlantic they could handle all sorts of weather and conditions. Still, their lines and proportions speak of craftsmen with skills and sense for perfection. Now a gem amongst the sailing ships of the world, she serves the young and the future as a training ship in Oslo.
